Alamo Area Search and Rescue Joins Thousands of Nonprofit Organizations for One of the Largest Single-Day Crowdfunding Events in America
San Antonio, Texas, April 19th, 2016 – On May 3, 2016, Alamo Area Search and Rescue is participating in Give Local America, a national day of local giving. This event strengthens the foundation of our communities through a 24-hour crowdfunding event that provides critical funding for and celebrates the work of our community partners across the country. In 2015, Give Local America raised more than $68 million for local communities. In 2016, with the help of San Antonio, Give Local America hopes to engage even more nonprofit organizations and expand its fundraising efforts to reach $100 million in donations.
Because it is held in partnership with nonprofit organizations and community foundations across the country, Give Local America is gearing up to be the largest online fundraising event in history. “This is a great opportunity for everyone in our community to contribute toward the greater good,” said Susan Dickens, AASAR President. “Every dollar will go further if you give on May 3rd.”
Alamo Area Search and Rescue is encouraging everyone in the community to be a philanthropist. “A lot of people think you have to be rich to give back, but even the smallest donation can make a big difference,” said Dickens. “Every dollar really does count for a community in need.”
